In previous blogs Board Members have written about the
reasons we became involved with Safe Place for Pets. Last week the connection
of the Board and volunteers to our mission became very personal when Mike
Duncan, a tireless advocate for his community and vice-president of the Safe
Place Board of Directors died of cancer. Before he died, Mike entrusted his
dog, Beau, to our care. Beau had become a part of Mike’s household when his
owners needed a favor and there he stayed until Mike needed a favor. He knew that we would find a new forever home
for Beau and was able to put that worry to rest before he died. It is our
privilege to serve Mike and all those who find themselves needing to re-home
their beloved pets due to a terminal illness.
